Matcha Gokou Koiai
Matcha Gokou Koiai
This organic Gokou Matcha Koiai comes from the Gokou cultivar. Typically, this is a premium cultivar of matcha powder, known for its nice full-bodied and umami flavour. If you like these bold savory flavors of matcha, this is the best option for you to try. Compared to the Matcha Washimine, this tea is fresher and more full-bodied. It is a very well balanced and flavourful matcha with less astringency. The flavour is quick and straight to the point, but it finishes with a round creamy flavor in the end.

Meet the Farmer of the Gokou Matcha Koiai
This Koiai comes to us from the Osada family in Shizuoka. This is a family owned business, but has turned into a larger scale operation over a few generations. They maintain a higher level of quality control by working with smaller farmers in the village of Isagawa.
This ceremonial matcha comes to us from the mountains of Shizuoka, Japans largest tea growing region. The farmers of Osada source their tea leaves from small family farms in the organic village of Isagawa to ensure the tea is made with great attention to detail and absolutely no pesticides. We visited these tea farms in April 2019 to see the fields and factories where it was produced in person.
How to Prepare the Matcha Koiai
Add 2 grams of Gokou Matcha Koiai to a bowl and then pour in 100-150ml of 160-175F water. You can then scrape off the sides of the bowl and begin whisking with you matcha whisk.
The Matcha Koiai is Pesticide Free
We make sure to only source teas from reputable farmers that grow tea without the use of conventional pesticides or chemicals. We meet with the farmers in person and tour the fields and facilities. We look at the sustainability of the field, the attention to detail and quality control of the facility and of course the taste of the tea. What are you waiting for to order our Koiai?
